Adaptive Skiing & Snowboarding

Adaptive Skiing & Snowboarding is located at the Pajarito Ski Area outside of Los Alamos. Participants sign on for either a three week session or a six week session of individual ski lessons. The program provides ski equipment adapted to the individual's needs, lessons and lift tickets. The fun and excitement generate themselves. The program takes place in January and February each winter.

We operate at the Pajarito Mountain Ski Area in Los Alamos, NM on Fridays and Sundays from the middle of Janurary to the middle of March each winter weather permitting.

This program has the capacity to celebrate the freedom skiing and snowboarding provides to all people; to promote a quality skiing experience; and to make the ski mountain accessible by using adaptive teaching techniques and equipment that foster friendships and understanding between disabled and non-disabled participants in a safe and educational atmosphere of fun to anyone who experiences any type of disability.

CNM instructors have the experience as well as the training that allows them to adapt to the needs of children and adults with both physical and cognitive disabilities. The program was founded because CNM believed that skiing could challenge and increase the self-esteem of all individuals with disabilities. The original goal of providing ski instruction to individuals with physical and developmental disabilities in an environment that diminishes social and economic barriers still holds true today. This success is largely due to the tremendous support of our dedicated volunteers.

We encourage everyone to escape to the mountains and feel the wind in their hair, feel the speed, grace, and agility of skiing while breathing in the clean, fresh mountain air and taking in the spectacular beauty and charm of Pajarito Mountain. We provide the equipment, the lift ticket, and the instruction; you provide the willing spirit.

Adaptive Lessons offered: Mono-ski, Bi-ski, Visual impairments, Cognitive, Three-track, Four-track & Snowboarding
